About
Irene Cordero is a registered clinical counsellor deeply committed to supporting individuals on their healing and growing journeys. Originally from Costa Rica, she has a diverse Indigenous Central American, Spanish, and Portuguese heritage and has called Vancouver Island home for the past nine years.
With over two decades of experience, Irene holds degrees in Psychology, Clinical Group Psychology, and a Master of Counselling from the City University of Seattle in Canada. She specializes in grief and loss, trauma, substance use, family dynamics, relationships, disability, and mental health.
Trained in individual, couples, and group counselling, she is an ally for BIPOC, Latinx, LGBTQ2+, and individuals with disabilities, fostering a welcoming and inclusive, safe and confidential space to share.
Irene's approach to counselling is relational, client-centred, trauma-informed, and integrative. She uses an intersectional, feminist, and disability justice approach that is based on honouring individuals as a whole and considering their emotional, physical, spiritual, and mental well-being.
Irene enjoys hiking with her dogs, cooking, and meditating outside her practice.
“Honouring the whole you—Irene’s approach is relational, feminist, trauma-informed, and grounded in a justice-based lens.”
